From garbage to furniture

Who would have imagined that discarded foil packs and old cardboard tubes can be utilized to make furniture? This small-scale business did, as it turns trash into vibrant, handcrafted furniture. No scrap is left with Junknot, an SME based in Laguna which gathers routine and everyday garbage and creatively changes them into usable products while providing source of income to a neighborhood. According to creator Wilhelmina Garcia, Junknot's workers originate from the small neighborhoods in Bi an, Laguna. The artisans pick up plastic waste such as bags, wrappers and sachets, clean and twist them into ropes, which are then handwoven to form the back-rest and the seat of chairs and feces. Old cardboard tubes, on the other hand, are made into stool legs, while water hyacinth plants are treated to create classy headboards for beds.[...]
